We often see a kind of tape wrapped around wires in our lives, including black, green, red, etc.! The full name of electrical tape is PVC electrical insulation adhesive tape, insulation tape; it has good insulation and pressure resistance, flame retardant and weather resistance, and is suitable for insulation of various resistance parts. Let’s learn about electrical tape with the editor below!

1. There are several kinds of electrical insulation tape

1. Insulating black tape

It only has an insulating function, but it is neither flame-retardant nor waterproof. It has been gradually eliminated, and it is only used in some civil building electrical appliances.

2. PVC electrical flame retardant tape

It has three functions: insulation, flame-retardant, and waterproof, but because it is made of pvc material, it has poor ductility and cannot wrap the joints tightly. The waterproofness is not ideal, but it has been widely used now.

3. High-pressure self-adhesive tape

It is generally used for higher voltage levels. Because of its good ductility, it is worse than the second type in waterproofing. Therefore, people also apply it in the field of low voltage, but because its strength is not as good as PVC electrical flame retardant tape , Usually these two are used together.

2. How to use electrical tape

The power cord connectors are divided into “+” word connection, “-” word connection, “T” word connection and so on. The joint should be tightly wound, smooth and free of burrs. Otherwise, before disconnecting the thread, use wire cutters to press it lightly, then wind to the pressure port, and then swing left and right, the thread will be compliantly disconnected at the joint. If the joint is in a dry place, first wrap 2 layers of insulating black tape, then 2 layers of plastic tape, and then stretch it about 200% with insulating self-adhesive tape, wrap 2 to 3 layers, and finally wrap 2 layers of plastic tape.

Three, electrical tape application scenarios

Such as wire joint winding, insulation damage repair transformer, motor, capacitor, voltage stabilizer and other kinds of electrical and electronic parts insulation protection.
